Not sure if I would be labelled an envirofreak, but my comment would be that the climate appears to be changing. It has certainly changed previously, all by itself. It is possible that there were contributing influences, like a volcanic event or a meteor impact, before. However, there is a likelihood that anthropogenic factors are having some impact now. Personally I think that human actions have accelerated climate change. People following climate change don't refer to global warming, that applies more to arctic ice. In other parts of the world there will be different effects, including more extreme weather patterns.
I really worry more about fossil fuel consumption, and how our current oil-based western lifestyle is not sustainable, than I do climate change. I do wonder what sort of scientist notices that it is cold in Washington today and claims that this proves that the climate is not changing. Isn't that the definition of bad science?
