Hey there,
I tried the steps described in the stuck disk thread without any luck. I don't think the disk is stuck per se, I think the damned computer just doesn't want to give it up (a minor difference, I'm aware).
As it stands right now, I have a v21.1 burned on a TDK CDR by CloneCD in the drive. When I power on the car the display comes up with a message about a software update that might take six minutes. This message does not go away (at least not in the hour or so of continuous driving I did today). Pressing the eject button on the Nav computer does not eject the disk. It doesn't even elicit the whir of the drive.
Further, the radio shuts off every three minutes or so. Vexing.
The first step in the stuck disk thread is to put the key in ignition one or two (I tried both), and hold the eject button for three minutes. Release and push eject when it stops flashing. My eject button is solid amber at all times. It never starts flashing. Releasing and quickly hitting eject at three or four minute mark does nothing. Not even a whir of the drive.
I disconnected the negative battery terminal, waited a minute, and reconnected it while holding down the eject button on the nav. This caused the drive to whir for a bit, the display to stay dark a moment, but was unsuccessful. After about ten seconds the display goes back to the software update message and the nav returns to silently ignoring me. Variations on the eject while reconnecting battery method had the same response.
Does anyone have any additional ideas? I'm at a complete loss and don't have many other avenues to pursue this.
Thanks again guys.
