I have this issues as well in my '02 3.0i X5. Very timely thread !!

I'm looking to DIY the repair too. The pump is stupid expensive. I remember on the Audi A6 I had, Ipulled the pump and overhauled it myself. Wonder if the same can be done here............. then just purchase the valve.

On second thought, I think I'll check the hose first.
