No, not chick, but chip. As in the big chip you get in the windshield when that rock strikes it.
Over the past few years I have been having more and more windshields destroyed by flying rocks - it's getting expensive.
I thought about it for a while and I guess this is due to the greater number of suvs and pick-ups on the road these days. These vehicles expose more rubber to the rear because they sit so high; and because they have more gnarly tires than a passenger car, they can more easily grip rocks and toss them back at other cars.
I guess we are now living in a shooting gallery. One solution would be to require that suvs and p-ups have mud flaps, but I think most people would rather not change the aesthetics of their favorite truck or have to pony up the dough.
So, maybe I can try to help the next guy behind me. Does anyone have any side and rear view pics of decent looking mud flaps for the X5.

After writing the above post, I found this article and see that I am not the only one with rock problems. It also made me think a bit about other damage. Cut paint will be bad enough, but with the energy these rocks carry, they can easily go through the kidney grills and strike something more sensitive - like the radiator. So, I guess I am looking for a mesh screen for the inside of the grill too. If anyone knows of one that will not impeed too much airflow, I appreciate hearing.
