sidenote: one thing I do miss from my old 05 is the doors felt heavy almost too heavy sometimes and I loved the way they shut (german car doors have that destinct sound when they shut/open) and the E70 doors feel great but they are either more balanced or lighter because they remind me more of doors I had on a lexus few years back my $.02

Wheelbase is a little shorter on the e53 that's why. With each new model changes the enhancements to ride will always get better. I feel the e53 is more athletic and agile with the less weight and the e70 is more refined. I'd be curious as to the numbers of an e53 with sport package skid pad numbers vs. e70 with sport package (with the 19" wheels) skid pad numbers--I bet the e53 numbers would be better.
