If both are the same hardware wise (i.e. MK IV) and software-wise (i.e. High/Professional, etc) then technically there is no reason why it wouldn't.
I have the same car as you - 2005 X5 4.4 - mine has MK IV and requires "High" map DVD. Is this what you have?
