just updated it's pricing for Extended Maintenance as of 2/2009.
The good news is for the E53 X5's the prices have NOT gone up. Same goes for the E70 X5's except for the upcoming diesel model which will cost $200 more. (Interestingly the B7 can't be covered and the M5/M6 owners will be shelling out $2,995 MSRP, OUCH!) BMW still offers the extended enrollment option for cars that are no longer within 4 years / 50,000 (whichever comes first), BUT still within 5 years / 60,000 miles (whichever comes first). Both these programs will extend maintenance TO 6 years or 100,000 miles (they will not extend maintenance BY 6 years or 100,00 miles (please understand the difference)). Keep in mind that covers, as indicated, oil service with microfilter change, Inspection I, Inspection II, annual oil change, brake service, brake fluid flush, windshield wipers, topping off of fluids, and so forth.

They also offer a 5 calendar day unenrollment period in case you change your mind.
Another good reason to know about the program is that as long as you are still within 5 years/60,000 miles and let's say your Inspection II pops up along with your brake lining light and you take it to the dealer who quotes you $2,000+ for both jobs. You can buy the extended maintenance plan under the extended enrollment option
on the spot and BMW will allow the work to proceed under your new maintenance plan!

I've attached a scan of a BMW brochure I found on the net that discusses this program and the original owner protection program which is essentially an extended warranty offered to the original owners of new (not used) BMW's. For the sake of this post just ignore the stuff in the brochure about the original owner protection program.
