Take off the oil pan bolt first. Loosen the oil filter cap to let in air while it's draining so that the oil drains out faster. Remove the oil filter after all the oil is drained.

There is no technical reason for doing it this way, it's just more efficient and cleaner. If you try to take the filter out before the oil is drained then you need to deal with a drippy oil filter.
