Many years ago I used to know a guy who was the "criminal" type. I think he is in prison now. He was involved in just about every illegal thing you can imagine at some point or another. I think they finally put him away for selling drugs.
But for a while he used to sell illegal guns. Him and a buddy used to drive down south, buy guns from a regular gun store in a state where you could just walk in, pay cash, and walk out with your guns. Then they used to drive back north to NYC, file off the serial numbers, and sell them on the street in Brooklyn for 300-400% profit.
That's how criminals get their guns. They don't smuggle them in from other countries, and they don't have illegal gun factories where they manufacture them.
Making it more difficult for people to buy guns will easily cut down on this sort of thing.
