You should definitely consider investing in some larger SD high speed cards and an extra battery, though. That 512mb card would get depleted quickly, especially if you use the short movie feature (a 2GB card can only hold 16 minutes of 30FPS video). And at its highest resolution, each picture would go anywhere between 2MB-3.5MB...so a panarama picture could easily end up being 16MB-20MB in size!

I'm really glad to see that so many folks here have the Canon SD series camera. It looks like I made the right choice for sure. Good advice on the memory. I decided to just get the 512 mb card until I figure out my needs. In addition, instead of getting let's say a 2gb card, I think I would just get several 512mb cards. That way if a card is damaged or lost, all my eggs aren't in one basket so to speak. FYI, I also got a usb 2.0 SD reader for $9.99. That way, I won't need to turn on the camera and waste battery time while I download pictures etc...
