Regards your radio again..
I just finished reading your post about your radio and you've already stated that it cost you a little less than $1000 for the parts. How much did it costs to have it installed with the bezel? Can you also please give me the list of parts to get all of those features you mentioned in the forum? What are the draw backs or cons since you had this radio? I hope you have extra time to answer all my questions. Your set-up by far is the best one I've seen in all forums which lead me with all these questions and wanting to get one.
Thanks again,
XXXX
Thanks for your compliment. As far as the installation, it wound up costing $970 but I had a 600 watt 4-ch amp and four JL 300 watts 2way speakers installed as well. Without those items, the install was supposed to be only about $500. The items I bought off of Ebay were:

I didnt want/need the satellite/HD radio option. Additionally, JVC didnt offer a DVD changer. I wanted a changer that could play any media (.mp3, .wav, .avi, etc) so I went with the Valor brand. It was by far the least expensive DVD changer I could find (actually I only found like 3 or so) by at least $200.
I'd recommend that if anyone buys the iPod cable, spend the extra $15-$30 and buy the JVC brand cable. I dont own an ipod, but friends have gotten in my car and the cable made in Taiwan doesnt seem to navigate an ipod thru the head unit the way its supposed to.
One gripe I have is that once you are on a phone call thru the bluetooth connection, you cant make any changes to the navigation system. I had my system wired that I can make changes en-route as well as watch dvds while the car is in motion too.
But if you happen to get a phone call and then need to use the navigation, you have to hang up, enter your destination, and then you can call back. But the navigation works flawlessly and gives voice prompts over the person you are talking to.
The swi-pac unit (allows you to change the source, track, radio station, volume, and att thru the factory steering wheel controls) I have may be defective because when you blow the horn the source sometimes changes (and living in NYC the source changes ALOT). The shop reprogrammed it several times to no avail. They either did something wrong or the unit is indeed broken. I will work on it myself in the summertime.
Other than that, the head unit is great! Its detachable so there's little risk of theft or break in for this expensive unit. Its very user friendly and even greets me verbally (of my own programming) as I enter and leave my X!
It is highly recommended. Feel free to ask me anything about it.
