My 35d most definitely has a dipstick!. It's hard to get at, but it IS there. It also has a message printed above the radiator requesting that the oil be checked at every fill up. This info is in the waranty maintenance manual. The dipstick is located on the left side of the engine. Just take a look. It is black.
