x4life - The Bavarian Autosports hitch is the Curt hitch....

This is the e-mail i got back from them asking what hitch they sell:

"Thank you for your inquiry.
The hitch we sell is the Curt hitch. They do not offer a wire harness, and as you are probably aware BMW has not had these available for quite some time now. This hitch attaches like the factory one between the unibody and the bumper support brackets. We have sold well over 150 of these and we have yet to hear of one damaging a customer's vehicle. But this hitch is not rated for the full 6000 pound tow weight that BMW says the X5 can handle. And I'm sure that if you exceeded the 500 pound tongue weight rating or jerked a fully loaded trailer like I have seen many novices do it would be possible to do some damage. This is a unibody vehicle after all, not a true body on frame truck. Both the BMW factory hitch as well as the Curt hitch are made of far stronger steel than what they are attached to.
