Sounds electrical to me. And possibly a combination of things.

New battery and alternator - check.

Drives fine until 20 minutes after, albeit low power, which seems to indicate no juice for gas cars. Sounds like you have a charging problem.

However, someone mentioned something like diesels don't use electricity once started - is this true? Again, don't know diesels.
