I actually follow the limit on morning commutes. It takes anywhere from 2-6 miles for the engine to fully warm up (so you can hit 6600 rpms) on my 550. I always drive in DS, always. So I do actually appeciate knowing when I can go over 4500, 5000, 5500 etc...

Not an essential feature, but one I use. As for the X5. Once its broken in, I can forsee quite a bit of revving with the 4.8
