I'm very interested to hear a response to this too as I'm in almost the EXACT same situation. Baby on the way in 2.5 months, 2005 X5, Chicco Keyfit.

I've seen the carseat installed in a Mercedes C-class and a Lexus LS no problem. I wonder what it is about the X5 that is different. Maybe the seat belt tensioners?


I just checked the '09 X5 manual (online) and didn't see anything regarding rear-facing carseats...

Am I reading this right? So is BMW trying to say that only their BMW Baby Seat can be installed? I got a little one on the way and was gonna install it, then ran into this in the manual. Any thoughts? BTW, I have a Chicco Keyfit 30 infant car seat that I would like to use.
