Yeah, the head used with the SSS fully depends on the vehicle connected. And the E53 just so happens to be one of the two that use the yellow DK head.

That fault on the screen showed "currently present" which means just that, and usually clearing it won't do it any good as it will come back.

And it looks like the last date of programming was about Halloween time last year, likely it had a coding error with that programming and had the fault since going unnoticed... but the new software update should fix that when you get the disc.
