Yeah, that noise is becoming common on the N52 engine. It is actually caused by internal HVA (hydrolic valve adjusters, which are like hydrolic lifters on an overhead cam motor) bleed down where an air pocket gets in them. There is a bleed procedure that can be done at the dealer, but it is still reoccuring. The final solution is cylinder head replacement which requires PuMA authorization (BMW's email based techline) to do, and only after the bleed procedure is doccumented on a repair order. It is a legnthy repair (I have done quite a few of E90s, E60s, E70s etc.)

There is absolutely no need to worry as it is only a noise complaint and will NOT affect the way the car runs at all, but can be annoying so people usually want it fixed. I would bring this to your SA's attention on your next visit to the dealer to get the ball rolling.
