Thanks for the feedback. A properly installed head unit in a Non-DSP BMW would be installed with a proper wire harness adapter. This would maintain the OEM amplifier as well as the built in crossovers. Usually most of our Stage 1 customers (even those with aftermarket head units) still use the factory amplifier to push the speakers, although it's certainly possible that your friend went through the trouble to upgrade the amplifier & crossovers as well.
