From Oregon here so I am unfamiliar w/ the fees in Cali (we pay about $45 for 2 year vehicle registration). What is the VLF a percent of, the car's assessed value?
At least it's tax deductible, "...the VLF paid is deductible for tax purposes." (from the website listed).
And I would argue that people
ARE leaving California. They are coming in droves to Oregon - they're just all being offset by Mexicans, that's why you aren't noticing.
