Auto Hold is basically your hand brake/e-brake.
It just automatically engage when your vehicle is at a full stop and disengage when you hit the accelerator.
It shouldn't consume anymore fuel than normal.
It should be safe for the vehicle other wise BMW wouldn't design something that would cause damage to itself.
