Need advice...

My 05 (Diesel) has a noticeable not so smooth final downshift when almost stopping at lights etc. that gives the car a little lurch foreward.

I have been told by someone not to worry as this is just gearbox wind up and is a common characteristic for my car. Is this the case? Is anyone else experiencing this "common" characteristic. If so would a transmission software upgrade fix this???? or do I have yet another problem about to rear its ugly head...
