I love it when advocacy groups with their agendas takes an otherwise apolitical issue and jumps on it to further agenda and ultimately create an issue where none exists, creating an inflaming racial tension rather than improving relations.
These kinds of check points are not designed to catch illegal immigrants. There are plenty of unlicensed drivers who are legal residents and many more who are driving on suspended licenses due to one of the two main reasons for suspended licenses in CA: failure to pay child support or fines and suspension resulting from a DUI. There are many, many of these people and legal status has nothing to do with either condition.
The bottom lines is this: If you choose to use the roads by operating a motor vehicle, you are subject the laws that govern the use and operation of motor vehicles. It is privilege, not a right, and if you don't like the rules then you don't have to drive a car. If you don't want to get pulled over or stopped at a legal check point, don't drive.
