For anyone interested in the aftermarket warranty provided by BMW dealers, like i mentioned above in my post. I should be getting a fax shortly with the coverage. I'll have this as a PDF and will post here.

I'm considering going with the BMW Fidelity or with warranty direct. Fidelity quoted me the same 2655 for 5 yr 60mths for the Platinum coverage (PDF attached).

Warranty Direct quoted me at approx $3800 with a $960 downpayment and payments over 60mths for SecureCare. Looks like they have a full coverage warranty as well "Luxury" - I've attached a comparison. Basically Luxury covers factory Navigation and DVD headrests etc.

Fidelity's (BMW) service contract is similar, but with a 10% downpayment. I'll probably put down 20%-30% down to start ($300-$600).

So Warranty Direct may cover more though in there maximum coverage warranty.. like glove box handle. Thing is - i have to look at everything and find out what's right for me. I can save myself $1000 by doing glove box replacement myself, because I'm pretty much capable I'd like to think.

The interesting thing to me will be the door handles and actuators, window coverage etc. Things like the coolant and the air suspension. the big ticket items i'm not willing to fix myself. BMW mentioned wear and tear items are not covered. Warranty Direct said they were. So that will be the difference maker for me.

Wait - as i was typing the service brochure fro BMW came in.

I couldn't get a sample service contract from BMW, but I could from Warranty Direct. What's attached from Fidelity (BMW) is just the brochure, NOT a sample service contract. I've also included the quotes for both.

----------------------------------------
Warranty Direct quote is atached as jpg.
These quotes are for 4 yrs UP TO XX miles. So 4 yrs 60k miles for my car with 20k miles is 4yrs +40k miles. So odomoter reads 60k. Unlike fidelity where it would be when odomoter reads 80k.

They also provide airbag electronic optional coverage. Which BMW does not offer any coverage for.
Warranty Direct allows you to go to any independent shop or dealer of your choice. They pay via their corp credit card.

SecureCare Sample Contract

-------------------------------------------
BMW / Fidelity Quote for my car:

min yrs 3 / min mile 36000
max 7yrs / 100k miles
$50 reducing deductible (means if you go to where you purchased - you dont pay the deductible)

Platinum 3rs 36k $1754
Patinum 7yrs 100k $4902
Platinum 5yr 60k miles $2655

All Prices will be plus tax.

Payment plan available - 10% down and 0% financing for 18 mths from a CC or checking acount automatic withdrawal.

BMW Fidelity is covered at all dealerships - haven't confirmed if independent shops as well. I think at dealer is the important part unless you have a dealer that's a few hundred miles away and it's just inconvenient.

Also - the mileage is + your current mileage. So, if you have 20,000 miles your warranty at 5 yrs 60k is 5yrs up to 80k. Make sense?

I've confirmed that BMW doesnt cover wear and tear items like CV joints etc.

EDIT: Also just confirmed that iDrive, Navigation, Speakers all control units etc is covered. She basically said it's better than the BMW factory warranty which doesnt cover Nav, iDrive or most electronic components etc. She said Air Suspension is not SPECIFICALLY listed as an exclusion so it is covered. I've recorded the conversation and will use it in a court of law.

I have to bring the car in tomorrow so they can verify the mileage. I might just make them fix the folding mirrors.

<Removed Contact Person for Rallye BMW by request. She's getting alot of calls, you can contact your local BMW dealer and ask for the fidelity warranty. If they don't have Fidelity let me know>

EDIT - added Fidelity Warranty Services web site.

Click for the Protection Plan:
Vehicle Protection Plan

Their web site: Fidelity Warranty Services - Home Page

-----------------------

Basically - because of price - and the fact that i don't think Warranty Direct is providing much more, and i think i can come out of pocket for the few things (hopefully unlikely things) that aren't covered by BMW Fidelity or i can fix myself with the help of this great forum.. I'm going to go with the BMW Fidelity warranty.

The first thing i'm fixing is my folding mirrors.
