I think you can if you prep them properly and use high heat paint. It will be a matte finish though. Personally, I wouldn't bother painting the muffler and if I did, at most I would only paint the surface that is visible from the rear. I would buy some OEM covers/tips like the ones that come on the Sport Package (charcoal/black gloss) or chrome ones. Another idea is to buy the 4.6is tips and have them welded on to your existing exhaust. Be cautioned that care needs to be used to make sure they go on straight. Someone just did this and the shop welded them on crooked. Check with Crevier BMW or Pacific BMW. Also eBay sometimes has them. Or you can go all out and buy a whole new exhaust like a Remus, Eisenmann, Dinan, or Tri-Flo.
