Yes, HUD does require a different part number, I assume your dealer should know that. I should have been more clear, it was the light sensor/solar sensor that needed to be reset. My issue was that the headlight is ALWAYS on if I choose the dial in auto headlight mode. Give that a try, set your headlight in auto, and see if your headlight is on all the time. If so, then you had the same problem as me, the car is thinking it's at night, thus dimming the HUD.
Different glass and the windshield need top be placed perfectly and aligned. This is what the dealer told me. To much sealer or not enough and it will affect the "rake" of the glass thus affecting the HUD display placement.
