You can get a quote in 5 minutes by calling the dealership where you bought the car. Prices vary depending on the stealer's mark-up and any promotions that may be in effect at the time of your call. My recommendation is to wait until about 2-3 months before your regular warranty expires and call all BMW dealerships in your Area. Therefore you have time to shop for the best deal and know for sure if you wanna the extended warranty or not. Please also remember that extended warranty are fully refundable i.e. you can still get back your money back (pro-rated of course) if you do not transfer it to the next owner.
On the diesel, my dealer said they don't offer the extended maintenance warranty. I felt no need to pay for the warranty up front. I asked about a refund if I sold the car and they told me, it is pro rated. That's why I'm going to wait until close to when the original warranty expires. I agree, shop around. The finance manager was trying to sell me the extended warranty along with tire and wheel warranty, ding and dent warranty. He even tried to sell me an after market warranty as well.
