The news sources are so often such bad reporters of facts.

These stories make me think about "what if it were me" situations. Unfortunately a road rage incident like this can happen to anyone and often times it is totally one sided where one side doesn't even know there was a traffic issue.
Funny true story:
A cop I know was working undercover narcotics and was on his way to the office driving a rental car, as they often do to switch up vehicles for surveillance, and while sitting at a red light, a big dude comes storming up to his car screaming about being cut off or something. My buddy, not being one to back down, rolled down the window and asked what the problem was. The road rager promptly punched my buddy in the face and walked back to his car and drove off. My buddy follows him while calling the local police dispatch center. They arrive at the rager's workplace with police waiting for him. He got put in handcuffs in front of his work.

The guy told my buddy that he would have never hit him if he knew he was a cop to which my buddy replied "so it would be okay to hit people as long as they're not a cop". Mr. Road Rager was lucky he didn't get shot in the street BUT he did die some time later in a car accident. Ironic.
