I am currently using an infinity reference 8" in a BSW bow run on a directed D800 mono amp (300 watt RMS @ 4 ohms) with a level remote knob up front. I have not had any problems, even with short trip driving.

How do you have the power, ground and remote run? I have my power to an extra 80 amp fuse n the rear power distribution box, ground to the main battery chassis ground, and remote to the OEM amp's remote turn on.
