I think there is some confusion going on . Either you are looking at the wrong link or you might think that the two pictures are from the same source (website) when they are not. The link where the guy changed the oil, he did it on a BMW and he used the Esso oil that comes in the 1 liter bottle (the exact same stuff that you can buy from bav auto); this oil is not labeled VW/Audi. The text with the Audi A8 info that also mentions the oil is from a completely different website. My only reason for including it is that it mentions the same Esso oil used by BMW and also describes the color of the oil.

So from the picture of the oil and the description of the oil is it clear to me that the oil is clear-yellow in color.

I would really doubt BMW added any additive to your oil.

For the record you might find it interesting to know that the oil used for the ZF gearbox (Shell M 1375.4) is also clear-yellow in color. See post # 54
