The low-voltage issue is because the later version DIS is more picky about voltage - that's why you should have a battery charger (also why I like DIS v43 better for most stuff).
I've NEVER run SSS yet through VMWARE. I know Riaz confirmed it worked for him but I actually have not used it since receiving a good copy of the SSS DVD.
I'm not sure if you were supposed to update, or not, the head. That MIGHT have something to do with it.
I don't really use the VMware much (I need to re-install DIS and try SSS) then maybe I can do some research.
I was going to say check the IP address assigned to the diagnostic head but if its not showing ...
So, first thing is ... did you or did you not change the Operating Unit IP address?

I think the IP address was 192.168.68.55 from the SSS and i changed it to 192.168.68.35
