It's a long time ago since I had a mk3, but I think that you should have one, maybe a mk3 owner can confirm.

Once getting the TP volume button to fix the nav volume I can then reinstall v31? (Won't it get over written then by reinstalling a higher version?)
No, absolutely not, your mk3 does not use any part of the v31 (mk4) update.

All versions of the OS updates from v22-> v32 have the same version for the mk3 OS, ie: 3-1/63, the mk3 is not being updated any more and is outside the update path.

All you will get is "software is up to date", when you insert the disc, or a dead drive if you put a mode1 disc in.

That's why nearly all the OS you find on here is in mode1, because it's no good for the mk3.

I was also reading on the board that the nightview had some errors is that fixed or it won't matter to my MK3?
The nightmode OS for the mk3 and mk4 have now been fixed and should give you a 3-1/64 version number, they are all OEM in functionality, but may have a custom splash (m logo, or OEM ===BMW===), every thin else for the mk3 is the same.

All my OS images are in mode2/form 1 so that the won't kill any mk3's, but always check this before you use it.
