Hey Meister,
I also came up with the following from Wiki: http://wikicars.org/en/BMW_X5 It mentions as April '04 as both the production & shipping date, so from what you are saying I guess they mean the shipping date.

To the OP, have a read anyway. It can't hurt to be more informed. GL with your purchase
