That linked article says that this would be a good thing for consumers. That's wrong, it would be good for ONLY some of the consumers

This would be really good for Apple. Doesn't help all the people currently locked into the AT&T contracts with the 2G, 3G or soon-to-be 3GS though.

New phones will be needed for Verizon's CDMA and LTE networks. That might be costly development to support both in one phone -- I don't know. Maybe a Verizon deal will not be cut until Verizon has LTE network ready?
