This would be really good for Apple. Doesn't help all the people currently locked into the AT&T contracts with the 2G, 3G or soon-to-be 3GS though.

New phones will be needed for Verizon's CDMA and LTE networks. That might be costly development to support both in one phone -- I don't know. Maybe a Verizon deal will not be cut until Verizon has LTE network ready?
Doesn't Verizon have access to Vodaphone's 3G network. iPhone is on Vodaphone in Europe.
