the v10 is horrible on gas mileage and the v8 is not that much better. My m5 got only about 150 miles if that on a tank. The V8 is also not very torquey. The twin turbo V8 is a much better design. Compact, light and much stronger internals.

Ferrari has gone direct injection and flat crank. The flat crank are known for reliability and optimized for power and at the same time torque off the line... and noise.. c'mon now.. the M5 and the m3 sound horrible. It's not one of those cars that will make you go holy sh!t...

It's nothing to write home about? Really? That casual about it? Just another run of the mill, 8,400 RPM V8 I guess.

Ferrari motors are incredible power plants. No arguement there, but here are the criteria used for judging this contest;

In every category, the panelists judged each shortlisted engine using their subjective driving impressions and technical knowledge, and took into account characteristics such as fuel economy, smoothness, performance, noise and drivability.

Some of those are not Ferrari's strong points.
