Goto an electronics store that sells resistors and find a 220k ohm in either 1/4 or 1/2 watt and push it into the wire side of the harness between the left and right channels. I can't find the write-ups now, but people have learned how to make homemade aux input cable for under $10 US. The resistor is needed to fool the radio into knowing that the aux cable is there, so maybe youre radio just needs more resistance in order for it to realize that the cable is in fact there.
