Why don't you compare the 6 to a 911 or a performance car if you want. I would understand that more than taking a 5000 pound car and thinking it was a SUV. Everyone has their right to their opinion but I was just asking why does everyone think it's a SUV?
Well, firstly, your question seems misdirected because nobody in this thread "put the 6 in an SUV category"...the reviewers and BMW did. I know of several real SUV owners that purchased an X6 as an alternative. Now, do i personally think it's an SUV? Why the hell not? it's damn well close enough in plenty of categories aside from a true off-roader. I tow a variety of trailers and max performance in a premium SUV/SAV is ideal for me (insert the max towing capacity for a 911 here).

lastly, my understanding of the ///M philosophy besides motorsport, is a vehicle that can go from the road to the track and vice-versa. Being that i prefer SUV/SAV's for my lifestyle, either the X5 or X6 ///M would perfectly suffice for my needs and wants. So i guess an SUV/SAV with actual track capability AND towing capacity puts me in the category of their niche target demo.

My question to you is, why do you care if it's called an SUV? And have you driven one yet?
