lived as long as I have I have found that
the mature thing to do is is to take a position
of kindness lest you find yourself in the same
position. Trust me it's not a good place to be.

I don't care if you agree with me Barry, we're having a discussion here, it sometimes happens that people will differ in opinion in a discussion, go figure. Your opinion is your opinion and mine mine (thanks for letting me have mine btw, how benevolent of you) I simply made a statement and asked a question. One that I asked to make a point in the discussion of a public figure's life and one that you feel isn't PC (which I'm having trouble understanding your vehement defense of, considering that you don't even know the man, but I digress). The ironic thing here is that you're saying "you don't know the man, how can you judge him" while I'm saying "you don't know the man, how can you defend him?". Maybe you've forgotten MJ's TV interview back in the day where he clearly states that he sees nothing wrong with a man in his 30's having sleep overs with unrelated little boys
. Let me know how you feel about one of your neighbors slipping that little gem of a statement into casual conversation the next time you bump into them while cutting the grass.
Where we appear to differ is that my opinion of a famous/public figure's character isn't clouded by how many records they sold or how many #1 songs they wrote. I'm surprised that you haven't learned that lesson yet, considering you've been around so long
. Where we don't differ in opinion, as I clearly said earlier in the thread, is that MJ made great music, maybe you missed that post, it's #43, but that doesn't make him a good person or worthy of adulation in death.
In conclusion, I'm sorry for your loss, please convey my sympathy to the Jackson family at the wake and funeral when you see them, and for God's sake whatever you do, don't bring up the baby dangling incident or the drug addiction or that bad thing that happened in '93, he's sold enough records and got enough people dancing that those indiscretions can just be ignored...
