The 4.4 (up to 2003) had 282 hp. The 4.4 (from 2004 onwards) had 315 hp. The 4.6 had 347 hp (from a quick web search, and I know that hp ratings varied by geographic region due to different measurement standards)
A Shark Injector (available for the 3.0, not the 4.4) adds about 2% according to the manufacturer. Combined with an intake, the manufacturer suggests you can see 4% gains. That is generally within the range of error of a dyno, so your hp gain may vary. If in fact you got the 4% on your vehicle, your 282 hp 4.4 would be making 293 hp. Other aftermarket intakes, chips, exhausts, etc, will have similar results.
Nothing short of a supercharger will raise the power of a 4.4 by any appreciable amount. A supercharger is upwards of $5k.
So, buy a 4.6, or buy a 4.4 and enjoy it for what it is, a great-driving SUV. Add the 4.6 body kit if you want to. If you want to go faster, you probably shouldn't be in a 3 ton vehicle.
