I agree that there are many cases where people (especially wealthy celebs) settle out of court, but the thing is MJ was a 40+ year old man who regularly let kids sleep over in his bed and openly admitted that he didn't see anything wrong with it. You may call me biased, but when you are a 40 year old man and you let kids spend the night in your bed I personally don't think it is a stretch or a leap of any kind to assume that some other weird stuff was going on. Especially with multiple allegations of it. Also, I think it is strange that he settled in these circumstances. If he loved kids so much and was innocent I would think he would fight this particular type of allegation at any cost, but that is just me though. You may feel differently. Take his celebrity and your personal love for his music out of the equation and any other 40+ year old man doing the things he was doing and being accused of would be considered a major creep.
I don't think his musical talent should give him any sort of pass. I know he was talented. I loved some MJ when I was little. My first album was Thriller. Even had the red jacket with the zippers and buttons when I was like 5 years old.
I am just not sure how much his talent matters if he did this. Would his contributions be worth it if even one child was improperly treated? I don't think so personally.
At the end of the day I feel bad for him too, because he had anything but a normal childhood and it affected him for the rest of his life. Let's hope that the allegations are not true so other kids don't grow up with lingering issues as well. All I am saying is that it is not far fetched or complete imagination to think that some dirt happened.
To each his own though. For example, I guess some people remember OJ as a great football player or actor and some remember him as a killer. Same with Elvis as a great singer or a drug addict/child lover.
