I believe there are some truth to this controversy...all phones run hot, especially phones that have fast processors like the iPhones. However, if you use a case, you inhibit the ventilation of the phone. Probably, someone used a brown leather case for his white iPhone, iPhone gets warm and transfers the dye to the back of the white iPhone.

Thus, I stand by my original statement...get a black iPhone. No matter what, no discoloration issue.

By the way, SG doesn't use his iPhone enough to get it HAWT!
