I wasn't trying to be a wiseass, as difficult as that might be to believe
, engine compartments should be dirty, the exterior and interior should be clean, I wash/wax/vacuum religiously, but the engine compartment, that should be dirty. (A quick and rare wipe down is no big deal, but you'll wind up in a sport coat with the sleeves in the back if you try to keep it spotless )
