I grew up, in high school, watching Uncle Walter...to many he may seem
like he was from ancient history, but he was "The TV News" back in the
'60s and '70s, and early '80s, imo. He had enormous but subtle influence
on many of the events he reported on. He seemed to be in it for the
practice of journalism as opposed to the dough or the bully pulpit.
This was pre-cable news, pre-news bits on the web, pre-screaming 24/7...
A good run to 92, but they don't make them like him anymore, imo.
RIP.
