You need to drive around for a while, for some reason, mk3 and mk4's sometime after a OS reload have a delay in the splash screen displaying when the i-bus is woken up, its a bit sluggish.

The splash screen is just a pic thats gets displayed while the i-bus and nav unit are being woken up, so by the time the unit is fully up and ready to work, the pic may not even have time to display before the unit is ready.

If you drive around for a while its seem to settle the unit down and it reverts to normal after a while.
