Odds are, your phone is fine. Some phones that have non-numeric data or groups cause the BT module to go Tango Uniform. I had a similar problem when I first set my Blackberry Pearl. I cleaned up my phonebook fields so that they had alpha characters (dashes and spaces are OK), and I deleted the groups. It has been fine since.
