No. Sure, it will sound better on a V8, but it will also sound good on the I6 engines too. It's just another option to doing an exhaust.
I have a very loud exhaust system from headers back on my M5. My wife absolutely hates it.
Anyway, I'm not allowed to touch the X5's exhaust, which is why the X-Pipe might be a decent alternative.
