Break out the digi and a tape measure...pics would really help. I'm not certain about the X5, but I'm pretty sure the intake on my 7 is 3.5", so if the 3.0 is the same, you might be alright. Biggest problem I see is where the location of the filter is going to be. If it still remains in the engine compartment, its my .02 that its basically pointless since it taking hot air from the engine bay vs. being a true cold air intake. I've seen intakes for my 7 that put the filter behind the headlight, some w/ or w/o a heatshield. I just wonder how much cold air is really flying around behind the headlight. The kit I have puts the filter down behind the bumper and by the foglight.
