I have listened to couple of *premium* sound systems in various cars...from BMW to Jaguar's B&O, Mercedes's Logic7 HK, etc...I feel the car companies charge a lot for these systems which ideally should not cost more than coupe of hundred dollars.

In my opinion, anyone who is a true audiophile, should buy the basic system and get an aftermarket upgrade with quality components. People who are on a budget or don't care too much about high-fidelity sound, should choose the factory premium sound package.
