The little light at the shifter stay on and will go into sleep mode ,,,, when you hit the button on the remote it will light up again.
As for the battery is draining you need to look into the final stage registor (FSR)
to check that you need to run your AC or heat for little while the turn off the car if you hear the air still running ... If so you need the FSR for sure.
